I became addicted to cooking earlier this year, and in an attempt to avoid eating overpriced unhealthy meals (purchasing food in NYC is always so expensive... >_<) I decided that it might be interesting to try and make a lunch box. I'm usually not a big fan of eating food at room temperature, but after taking a look at THIS LJ group, I was motivated to make my own bentos~ :D

Having grown up in a typical Asian family, it wasn't hard to dig up all the necessary ingredients to make a passable bento lunch. However, my first attempt was--for lack of a better word--pretty pathetic. I vaguely remember it consisting of sushi rice, leftover chicken with vegetables and fruit. I was embarrassed to bring it to school the next day, but because I have a policy of not wasting food (no wonder I'm so porky o_O), I did so anyway. Needless to say, it garnered a lot of unwanted attention. I got a lot of weird looks from people while I was eating, but I've (thankfully) learned to ignore them.

On the bright side, I've lost two pounds already just from switching to eating bento for lunch. O___o And promptly gained one back the next day from pigging out on cake and stuff. D:

The fake bento box that I splurged ten bucks on.

More pictures~!

Note to self: Get working on that graphics site! >_< And fix the comment box thingy.
